You're probably asking yourself, 'what is heart disease?' According to The Heart Foundation, there can be multiple definitions for heart disease. They go on to say that heart disease is a pretty broad term and it covers many diseases that happen in the heart. Heart disease has many different names, there's coronary artery disease, coronary heart disease, or cardiovascular disease. This happens when plaque builds up in the inside the coronary arteries. The plaque can be made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances that can be in the blood. The plaque is a pesky little thing. The plaque can build up long enough that eventually it will rupture. That rupture will then lead to a blockage of the artery and causes a blood clot. This can lead to a heart attack or even worse, death. If the plaque builds up in the carotid artery located on the neck, this will lead to a stroke.

- Peripheral Arterial Disease- major arteries that supply blood to the legs, arms, and pelvis become blocked and will cause numbness, pain and infections can occur.
